Adopt a Turkey

Every year for Thanksgiving in the United States, 46 million turkeys are slaughtered and in Canada, 18 million are slaughtered. This year you can do something different. We are offering you the opportunity to Adopt a Turkey for the holiday for $35. We will send you a certificate for the turkey you pick to adopt for the Holiday. We will feed him or her a delicious Thanksgiving meal of all plant based foods. They'll love it!

For a monthly $25, you can sponsor the care of a turkey you choose all year long. We will mail you a certificate for your sponsored turkey! Make sure to choose "monthly" for donation frequency at checkout.

This is a great gift for the holiday season for friends and loved ones.

Sailor Todd

Sailor Todd is handsome, affectionate and a bit spoiled (in a good way). Sailor was being sold at a feed store when a visitor negotiated his release. Sailor eats a special, low-fat diet so he doesn't get too big and unhealthy because of how he large was bred to grow.

Gerg (not a typo)

Gerg was relinquished to a local shelter for aggression, and that's our specialty! Gerg has healed scars from a broken leg he had before coming here. Gerg has come to the right place where we respect his wish to have his own space. Gerg loves all of his chicken friends and he is rather cute with his little chin.

Fillmore

Fillmore was rescued along with Millard and Taub. Fillmore is a happy bird who has become best buds with Sailor Todd. Fillmore was uncertain about us humans at first, but now he has gone from tolerating hugs, to loving to be hugged. Fillmore is a gorgeous young turkey who would have been killed and eating for last years Thanksgiving. Now he is coming up on his second Thanksgiving where he will enjoy his own yummy vegan meal, never knowing the bad stuff that would have happened outside of sanctuaries.

Millard

Millard was rescued in a group with Taub and Fillmore. Millard barely survived the car ride to freedom while illness he was carrying was taking hold of him. Our vet has been treating him for a year and he has had his ups and downs. Millard has become the center of our family here, as he lives inside the house! In order for Millard to regain strength to walk again, he was using a custom wheelchair for a while. It's been a long road for him but as Millard learned how loved he is, the sweetest, kindest, and most talkative guy has emerged. Millard greets everyone with his sweet turkey trill. Millard adds brightness to this life and we are so very glad to have him here, safe. Millard also goes by the name, Millard Spillard. He can flip his food bowl like nobody's business.

Taub

Taub was being raised for Thanksgiving but we rescued her just in time, along with her friends Millard and Fillmore. Taub was scooped up and brought here where when lives with Sailor, Fillmore, Banjo and Skipper. Taub has a snuggly side and not a mean bone in her body.

Banjo

Banjo was brought to our veterinary clinic for euthanasia when she had been attacked repeatedly by predators. Our vet saw clearly that Banjo and her friend, Harmony the chicken were both strong and wanted to live. That's when our vet called us and we said we would be happy to take these sweet birds in. Banjo is full of life and healed amazingly from her numerous injuries from predator attacks.

Mr. Blue

Mr. Blue came here from a hoarding situation of mostly dogs and cats. The farmed animals were left behind for many months until we were contacted to help with the birds. With inadequate shelter in the harsh climate of the Colorado plains, it's remarkable that any of those birds survived until we could help rescue them. Mr. Blue is a gentle and sweet guy who spends his days with his pal, Mr. White, impressing visitors with their beautiful plumage.

Skipper

This beautiful turkey hen is named Skipper. Quirky and feisty, Skipper is a critic of everyones attire. Skipper loves to be hugged if you're wearing a reasonable outfit. Pink boots are one of the many things Skipper will not tolerate. Always a companion to her favorite people, Skipper is full of vibrant personality and life. She's sweet, yet doesn't hold back her feelings about bad style. Skipper was being sold at a feed store with Sailor Todd when a visitor negotiated their release.
